Hello and welcome
Here we are going to talk about bathroom services and placement when installing and the things you need to think about when planning for maintenance for future servicing of the service depending on style of bathroom along with update to existing one you may be limited to the change available to you especially if in a block of flats due to main service run locations and type of floor that's if you wish to avoid products like Sani flow which allow you to have bathrooms in basement and enable waste removal of bathroom
Please see below example of Sani flow
As we can see from the photo above there are additional considerations that need to be addressed bath height as you will need space to create a small fall of waste pipe to Sani flow
when installing I like to think about how easy will it be to repair possible leaks as well alterations as change is good thing
From the floor plan above you can see a few tell tell sign that the bathroom has underground service due to placement how you may ask
1st is the distance between services
2nd is type of bath as it is free standing on all sides
3rd there is a service on every wall with no void spacing in plan
These are a few signs that will help on whether you can change layout as beyond this some service runs may need to be surface mounted depending on building structure
From the picture below can you tell if the room is remodelled if you would need to run any pipes on the service ?

Other things to look at are water runs and routes are also taken into consideration when planning
Water services above are not your average as this drawing has a mixer valve to control hot water temp independent to mixer valve at each service point (bath, shower, basin)
As we can see from this drawing above the main waste incoming was the main factor for the services in this plan as water service pipes are smaller and have more routable options and you also need to think about joist runs if they are deep enough to run pipe
